The Tar Heels have been hosting some of the biggest names in the 2026 recruiting cycle and on Saturday, one of the top quarterbacks from the class will be on campus.

As first reported by Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, 2026 4✮ QB Brodie McWhorter will be taking a visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. McWhorter, who was offered by the previous staff, recently decommitted from West Virginia, reopening his recruitment.
McWhorter recently finished his junior season with Cass High School which was cut short because of a broken fibula and dislocated ankle. He threw for 985 yards on 72% completions and ran for 156 yards while contributing 14 total touchdowns in four and a half games. As a sophomore, he helped lead his high school to its deepest playoff run since 1983 while taking home first team All-Region 7-5A for a second straight season after doing so as a freshman.
In terms of where the Tar Heels stand in this recruitment, it feels like they are where everybody else is in what feels like a pretty wide-open race right now. Indiana hosted him this past weekend and has already secured an official visit this summer. The Tar Heels will be hoping to do the same thing this weekend.
