This week was massive one in Chapel Hill for the football program recruiting-wise as a group of the team’s top targets in the 2026 visited campus. While last night provided the biggest group of visitors, one of the team’s mid-week visitors has already revealed he will be taking an official visit in June after this week’s unofficial trip.
2026 4✮ LB Shadarius Toodle took his first unofficial visit to Chapel Hill on Thursday and according to Don Callahan of Inside Carolina, he has now set an official visit based off of that trip. Toodle, who is currently committed to Auburn, is dropping Florida from his official visit schedule on the weekend June 6th and will instead head to Chapel Hill during that weekend. He is currently scheduled to visit Georgia (May 15th), Michigan (May 30th), Auburn (June 13th) and Baylor (June 20th) outside of the trip to Chapel Hill.
Toodle, the No. 130 overall prospect and No. 9 linebacker in the class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Cottage Hill Christian Academy in Mobile, AL. This past season, as a junior, he finished with 157 total tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and an interception and had 494 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns. The year prior, as a sophomore, he registered 103 total tackles, 10.0 sacks and four fumble recoveries and had 560 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns on offense. That came after a huge freshman season where he collected 119 total tackles, 14.0 tackles for a loss, 7.0 sacks, one interception, two passes defensed and one forced fumble.
In terms of where the Tar Heels' chances are with him, it feels like they are a legitimate contender to flip him based on the excitement around this recent visit, but the staff has to keep pushing hard.
