The Shrine Bowl released their official watch list for this season earlier today and twelve Tar Heels players found themselves amongst the 1,000 that were listed.
Kaimon Rucker was the most obvious member of the group. He enters the season as the No. 86 overall prospect according to Pro Football Focus’s big board and the No. 10 edge rusher. Barring a drop off in production this season, it’s hard to see him not being some time on Day 2 next April.
Bryson Nesbit is another obvious selection here. He sits at No. 98 overall on the Pro Football Focus big board and the No. 8 tight end right now. A big season could jump him ahead of a few of the tight ends ahead of him, but he is likely to be a late Day 2-early Day 3 guy.
Power Echols is seen as a borderline draftable prospect so it makes a lot of sense to see his name on this list. NFL Mock Draft Database has him at No. 260 overall and No. 14 amongst the linebackers. A big season as the team’s top linebacker could help to solidify him as a Day 3 pick.
The rest of the group is seen as undrafted prospects with only a select few showing up on the big boards at all. Des Evans, Max Johnson, Willie Lampkin and Nate McCollum are all ranked on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board, but are well outside the range of being drafted.
Jakeen Harris, Kevin Hester Jr., Alijah Huzzie, J.J. Jones and Stick Lane are the other five who landed on the list.
